Welcome to Environmental Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Environmental Engineering is a unique accredited engineering program, administrated by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, designed to produce graduates at both the undergraduate and graduate levels who will become leaders in their fields for characterizing, managing and restoring the impacts of mankind on our planet. Our program integrates the sustainable development philosophy into the principles of water management and treatment, solid waste management, remediation of surface water and groundwater systems, biotechnology, and contaminant transport.

The Environmental Engineering program takes the best of engineering courses and principles to lay the foundation of quantitative skills, legendary to Engineering at Waterloo, and augments these skills with the diversity and robustness of technical elective courses is Earth Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Ecology and Planning to provide a program unique and able to meet the current and future challenges in managing and restoring our natural environment.
